Kanturk Golf

Founded

The club was founded in 1972 by a group of local businessmen.  A plot of land was bought and Richard Barry, a well known local GUI member designed a 9 hole layout.  Through a voluntary labour scheme the founding members acted as labourers, and general ‘dogsbodies’ to landscape and develop the course.  From these humble beginnings the club flourished and further land was purchased enabling the course to expand to a full 18 hole layout in 1994.

Kanturk

Kanturk is derived from the Gaelic ‘Ceann Tuirc’ meaning Boars Head, so named as it is reputed that the last wild boar in the country was captured in this area

Kanturk is an 18 hole course situated 11/2 miles from the town and just 3 miles off the busy Mallow-Killarney road from Ballymacquirke Cross.
