Programme by Denis Withers. |
This Festival weekend will be our fourth
successive Festival, and hopefully this year's Festival will be even more
enjoyable than the last three. The planning for this festival takes time
and effort, and a lot of voluntary work has been done by the members of
Banteer Community Sportsfield Ltd, into making this event enjoyable for
everybody.
It is an occasion for young and old in our Community, where people can
meet, chat, enjoy the entertainment and our children have good
old-fashioned fun in a safe environment. We have tried to include as
many events as possible so that all generations are catered for and this
year we welcome a few new additions to the programme. Any Festival has
costs associated with it, and we ask that you give us your support for the
main fundraiser for the Festival, which is the Duck Race, ducks at €5
each.
Any profits from the Festival will of course go towards paying for the
upkeep and maintenance of the facilities and also the drainage of existing
Pitch, which starts in August. This work will complete development work,
which started in Feb 1999 with a total of €500,000 spent on the project.
We would like to thank the following for making this Festival possible:
Cork County Council Arts Grant Scheme,
Our
Sponsor - White Country Inn, Banteer
Existing Sponsors/Advertisers in Sportsfield,
Glen Theatre and Nadd pub, Banteer Macra, Duhallow Veteran Vintage Car
Club, Duhallow Web Design, Banteer
The
various sporting and athletic clubs of the area,
All
members of Banteer Community Sportsfield Limited,
And
you the people for your support in making it a successful Festival, and
all others who helped with organising/planning.
Our
thanks also to Jerry O Connor Auto-services for sponsoring programme
printing.
Hopefully we will have fine weather
Have fun and enjoy the craic on the August Bank Holiday weekend. See
you all there.
