Banteer Hurlers
contest Duhallow league
final.
On Sat
last, at the Kanturk GAA grounds, Banteer Junior hurlers
were defeated in the league final game against Freemount
by the minimum of margins.
The game
itself was highly entertaining and fast with both teams
playing well with the backs on top for each side.
The first
half was a ding-dong battle with little or nothing
between the teams. Banteer were unlucky not to grab a
goal in this half.
Freemount
took the upper hand in the third quarter, which was
decisive, but Banteer finished strong and reduced the
margin to the minimum before the final whistle.
For
Banteer they can be happy that this performance was a
strong performance in a game that was played at
championship pace. On the night luck was not with them
and the goal miss in the first half and the point
disallowed for no reason in the second half was the
difference between winning and losing.
Final
score was Banteer 0-11,Freemount
0-12.
We wish
the team and selectors Noel Kearney, Ger Moran, Pat
Murphy and Eoin O Mahoney
well in the championship and their quest to bring
divisional honours to Banteer.
