AGM OF Banteer Community Sportsfield Ltd

The AGM OF Banteer Community Sportsfield Ltd was held recently at Banteer Sportsfield and was well attended.
Chairman Dermot McCarthy welcomed all and commented that the company had a very successful year with a lot of work done. He thanked all associated with the development and paid tribute to all who worked on the project over the last 4 or 5 years and made it happen.
Secretary Denis Withers reviewed a busy year .In his report he said:

At this stage in the project somewhere in the region of €498,000 has been spent. This is a great achievement by any standards for any committee and any community and any outstanding debt will be hopefully cleared soon.
Since the last AGM, the main items of work were the Festival 2003,Floodlights on new pitch, Old pitch drainage, Wiring on new pitch, Nets/poles /goals on new pitch.
Thanks were extended to all involved with the festival, which are entertaining but we need to keep bringing fresh and new ideas into the festivals. Thanks to all sponsors including the White Country Inn and Cork County Council for the Arts Grant of €500 and Patrick Buckley MCC for securing same.

In August 03 Kelly’s undertook the drainage for the old pitch and this work was completed in early Sept 03. The results to date are extremely encouraging with no wet areas in the pitch and all areas extremely dry and it is expected that the pitch will be opened again towards the end of April.

During 2003 the new pitch was completed with-Floodlights erected, FRS completing wiring work around pitch and during early August the completion of the new poles and nets at the lower part of the pitch.

Thanks were extended to Banteer /Lyre GAA for purchasing the nets.

Banteer Sportsfield/Park project received coverage from local papers during the year including Examiner, Corkman, Co. Sound and the IRD Report etc.  and they were thanked for this support.

There were also many visits via IRD Duhallow including a TNA G camera crew in October who were filming re the FAS cutbacks.     The visits by these groups show the high esteem, which the group is held by IRD and it also allows the group to show recognition of the IRD funding received for the project.

As a limited company with property used by the public the company must now prepare and keep updated a Safety Statement, which identifies the risks to all users of our property and lists the controls taken to minimise these risks. This is now a legal requirement and this Safety Statement will be compiled early in 2004.

The company are also expecting additional funds from Dept of Sports with the assistance of Michael Moynihan TD, as part of the 2004 Sports Capital application submitted.

Sincere thanks were extended to all sponsors of Advertising boards at the Pitch, and also to Declan Fitzgerald, Noreen Foley and John Howard for securing a cheque from the AIB Staff matching fund.

Sincere thanks to Banteer Underage Soccer Club, Banteer/Lyre GAA and Duhallow AC for their financial contributions towards the running costs and the company will also be reviewing and formalising annual funding contributions from all user groups to ensure there is always enough money to cover ongoing operation, maintenance and development costs for the facility.
