Sportsfield Ltd

Work on  the development of  the  Sportsfield and Park adjacent to Banteer Village is currently nearing completion.   This project will provide leisure and other facilities for the young, old and the disabled of the surrounding areas.   The project is promoted by Banteer Community Sportsfield Ltd., which is a local voluntary community organisation made up of three different community groups, the Sports Committee,GAA and Community Council 

Planning work for this project started in late 1997. Total project cost will be  approx. £150,000.   Work is well advanced at present and it is expected to officially open these facilities  in early 2,000 as “Banteer Milleneum Sportsfield/Park”.

The project itself is made up of two parts:

Park development.

Sportsfield development.

Park Development 

This part of the project involves the development of a park area at the existing Pondfield area which was originally approx 1.7 acres of  a lake area.

This includes

1. Comprehensive landscaping of the area.

2. Provision of seating areas with wheelchair friendly seating/tables.

3. Provision of viewing areas on pond.

4. Provision of two fishing stands with access for disabled anglers.

5. Provision of pathway around pond.

6. Provision of pathway lighting.

Sportsfield Development

Adjacent to the proposed park area,  the Sportsfield  is being developed with

1. New dressingrooms

2. Floodlighting

3. Public toilets

4. Disabled toilets

5. Babycare facilities

6. Sideline seating  

7.  Landscaping.

8. Spectator viewing area designed with access for disabled spectators.
